Alex’s motion is not just about transport. It includes all the factors that result in alcohol-fulled violence, including our increasing binge drinking culture. At the same time, people need to get home late at night rather than milling about in the streets waiting and frustrated about not being able to get home. This is why transport has to be part of the solution.

Using transport to disperse the problem doesn’t solve the issue… Someone else down the train line will just get bashed instead… The problems are that people are drinking too much, RSA is not being followed, Licensed premises have no accountability and are focused on only making profit. Underlying all of this and is a question yet to be asked… Why are people drinking too much? We are a culture less bing- drinking nation.
