Thousands of Sydneysiders shared with me what is important to them in my recent electorate wide survey. It’s clear that constituents are concerned about improving education, protecting the environment, equality for all, and many more issues.
Education: Following my work in parliament and with the community we now have plans for a new primary school in the Pyrmont/Ultimo area, the government is finally consulting with the community for an inner-Sydney high school, and I continue to push all levels of government to improve childcare option.
Environment: I continue to campaign to protect out park lands, have successfully called on the government to consider declaring Sydney Harbour as a Marine Park, and am working towards a container deposits levy to encourage recycling.
Equality: I’ve been working with the government to encourage employers to improve workforce equity for women, and continue to champion marriage equality, LGBTI law reform, and ending discrimination based on race, sexuality, gender and for people with a disability.
In addition I will always protect your voice in planning and government decisions, stand up for animal welfare, and make help protect residents in strata laws. Our growing global city must also retain and improve social and affordable housing and help vulnerable people including those who are homeless.
I look forward to continuing to work with you for our community,
Alex Greenwich MP
Independent Member for Sydney
