Harbourside Changes

Monday 29 May 2017

The planning minister responded to my objections to the proposed 39-storey tower above the Harbourside building at Darling Harbour, telling me that the department has asked the applicant to do further work on height, location, podium scale, neighbour impacts, public space and amenity. It’s not clear whether this will lead to improvements, but it is a sign that the government has understood our serious concerns. I will monitor the situation and provide updates.

The State Government ignored public opinion on the Packer casino, the ongoing overdevelopment of the southern section of Darling Harbour where the previous entertainment centre stood, their social cleansing of the city reflect a total disregard for existing communities. The only way to stop them is to make it clear they will be thrown out of office. If you have friends in any liberal electorate they really need to start to lobby their member that enough is enough.

Good letter, I agree with the perspective that an additional high rise building at Darling Harbour would be deleterious to the area. In the mean time what’s happening with The Star’s proposal for a 63 story building in Pyrmont. It just cant be allowed to happen. It will be a monstrosity.
