Marine Backflip

Marine Backflip

The NSW Government’s decision to withdraw its plans to conserve Sydney’s marine biodiversity and exclude any no-take zones is a disgrace. Only 4.6 per cent of waters between Wollongong and Newcastle were proposed no-fishing zones and these areas would have allowed fish species to regenerate, creating the best fishing spots in adjacent waters. I’ve been campaigning for a Sydney marine park since I was elected and we urgently need leadership to prevent aquatic species collapse.

Environment groups are not giving up. We need to get people to flood the government with submissions in support of a marine park with sanctuary zones and to tell the Premier her backflip during the consultation process is not acceptable.

You can make a submission by completing the Government’s survey HERE  or by email a submission through this webform which will also send an email to the Premier and Opposition Leader sydneymarinepark.org.au. A submission tool is available HERE.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
