NSW Budget

NSW Budget

Monday 25 June 2018

Disappointingly, there was nothing ground-breaking in this week’s 2018-2019 NSW Budget to address the serious challenges of climate change and affordable housing.

The government allocated $729 million to knock down and rebuild Allianz Stadium, which continues to attract criticism particularly in the context of the budget. Planning for the ‘Creative Industries Precinct’, which will replace the Powerhouse Museum in Ultimo will get $5 million. The destruction of this important arts and science institution is a disgrace and while I will continue to oppose the move, I will also work to get the best outcome for the site.

In the Sydney Electorate there is funding for arts, culture and public space through the Sydney Modern project, Australian Museum redevelopment, Walsh Bay redevelopment, Pyrmont Bridge Restoration and upgrades in The Rocks, Darling Harbour and Campbell’s Cove.  I will assess figures more closely in the coming weeks.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
