O’FARRELL MUST APOLOGISE OVER RAINBOW CROSSING REMOVAL

O’FARRELL MUST APOLOGISE OVER RAINBOW CROSSING REMOVAL

Alex Greenwich, The Independent Member for Sydney, has called on the Premier and Roads Minister to apologise to the Sydney & LGBTI Community for using emergency powers to remove the iconic Rainbow Crossing on Oxford Street.

Mr Greenwich has said that the RMS Crew informed him they were scheduled to be on a site at Ultimo but at the last minute were given a ministerial directive to conduct emergency road works to remove the rainbow crossing.

Mr Greenwich said:

"It's one thing to call for the removal, but to divert RMS crews under the guise of emergency road works is an aggressive act that Sydneysiders will not forget"

“Local businesses, residents, and the City of Sydney Council were not given any notice.  This even surprised the RMS crew who at the last minute  instructed to remove the crossing”

“The Premier must apologise for this aggressive act against both Sydney and the LGBTI community”
