Alex Greenwich, the Independent Member for Sydney, has welcomed the restoration of funding for inner-city women’s services and refuges which had lost funding under the Going Home Staying Home tenders.
 

Full funding and buildings have been restored to Detour House, Young People’s Refuge, B Miles, Stepping Out and Community Restorative Centre women’s program.
 
Mr Greenwich said:
 
“Compassion and common-sense have prevailed. The cruel cuts have been overturned by a strong community campaign that I was proud to support.”

"These organisations have demonstrated that they can help vulnerable people get off the street and back on their feet. 
 
“I thank the minister for listening to my concerns and the concerns of thousands of Sydneysiders and acting to keep services that help vulnerable women and girls through extremely difficult circumstances.”
 
SOS Save our Women's Services spokeswoman Roxanne McMurray, said it was a big win for women and children in the inner-city.
 
"Alex has provided unwavering support since the start of our campaign and all of our staff and clients are very grateful for his help in achieving this great result. 
 
"The loss of these services would have been a loss to the whole community. By working together we've ensured that they can continue to help people into the future.
