MILLERS POINT EXHIBITION

I’ll be at the Wednesday 7 October 6-8pm opening of “The Point is” exhibition to support the inspiring Millers Point community campaign Eva Cox is speaking, with live entertainment by Choir Rocks & Jacinta Tobin and a preview of Blue Lucine’s documentary "Forced Out". The exhibition continues until Sunday 11 October @ 107 Projects 107 Redfern Street Redfern. Details HERE

INTERSEX RIGHTS

Infants born with atypical sex characteristics such as part or both male and female genitals (intersex) are often subject to unnecessary surgery. Cosmetic genital surgery has lifelong impacts including pain, scarring, lost sexual sensation and sterilisation as well as problems if the child’s later identity differs from their surgically assigned sex, with many adults dissatisfied with surgery outcomes. I asked the health minister to review the practice and support reforms for informed consent in line with human rights groups’ calls. My letter is HERE.

COMMUNITY GROUP NOMINATIONS

UrbanGrowth NSW is establishing a 30 person reference group for long-term consultation and information sharing in its development of the Bays Precinct. Nominations are open until 23 October. Committed and engaged community members are needed to help keep this project on track. Details HERE

The Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust is calling for nominations to the parkland’s Community Consultative Committee, with applications due 23 October for three vacancies. Passionate park supporters are needed to link the Trust with the community. Details HERE.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
