Alex's Update Issue 32

Second Casino Goes Ahead, Centennial Park Masterplan, Local Government Review, Electoral Redistribution and Diabetes Top Tips

I’ve asked the Auditor General to look at the ‘independent’ review process that advised the Government to proceed with Crown’s proposed second casino on public land at Barangaroo. There was no community consultation and social impacts appear to have been overlooked. Read my media release HERE and letter HERE.

The Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust is preparing a master plan for the future management of Centennial Park following release of its 25-year strategic vision for the entire parklands. It will cover environment, heritage, trees, access, public art, venue services and community engagement. The trust wants initial comments from park users by 14 July through its online survey.

I encourage you to learn more and contribute HERE.

My submission to the Local Government (Sansom) Review opposes a mega-council and supports the NSW Government giving councils the resources and authority they need to do their job while remaining close to the community. My submission is available HERE. You can still provide comment until 19 July. Details available HERE.

Proposals for new electorate boundaries would remove most of Surry Hills, Chippendale, Ultimo, the Centennial Park area and Moore and Centennial Parks from the Sydney electorate, map available HERE.

While the Sydney electorate has to be reduced in size because of population growth, I’m opposed to dividing communities.

You can comment before 17 July HERE.

Have a great week
