Alex's Update Issue 46

Schools Update, Housing Repairs, Pop-Up Childcare, Learn about Parliament Asia on Your Doorstep, and Support Doggie Rescue

I recently updated concerned parents about my work to expand schools access in inner Sydney. There is progress, but I will keep pressure for more spaces at primary schools and a new public high school. My letter to parents is HERE and my Question to the Minister about local intake at selective schools is HERE.

Longstanding problems with social housing maintenance and repairs were exposed on the 7.30 Report HERE . I’ve been pushing for repairs for tenants with questions and petitions, but the problem is much bigger than this electorate. There is now a wider campaign to get action HERE

Congratulations to Pyrmont mother Van Le, community group SINC-UP, and The Parenthood on the pop-up childcare event this morning in Martin Place. All levels of government and the corporate sector need to work together on coordinated solutions. Learn more and Join the campaign HERE

Ever wondered what happens in the NSW Parliament? There are education materials and regular events including ‘A Little Late Night Sitting’ on Tuesday 22 October 4.30-6.30pm. Call to book 9230 2047. Information: HERE

The launch of Asia On Your Doorstep last week showed Sydney embracing world-class eateries in the Haymarket. I joined Lord Mayor Clover Moore, Indira Naidu and Festival Ambassador Adam Liaw for the event, and hope you will enjoy some of the great food from across Asia. Information: HERE

I’m hosting the Dying with Dignity Annual Forum in the Parliament House Theatrette on Monday 4 November 2-4.30pm, and invite you to hear speakers about the ethics of voluntary assisted dying. Information: HERE.

Have a great week
