Animal Abuse Curbed

Animal Abuse Curbed

I was proud to introduce yet another Animal Justice Party bill in the Legislative Assembly that passed and will now become law.

The bill will close loopholes that currently see animals stay in the care of known animal abusers. Prohibitions on keeping animals in other states and territories will apply in NSW, someone who has committed animal abuse will no longer be able to work in a zoo or circus or breed animals, and animal cruelty convictions will come with a presumption that the offender should no longer have animals in their care.

The bill will go a long way towards protecting animals from abuse and making our society more humane. I congratulate the Honourable Emma Hurst MLC for again getting outcomes for our voiceless friends.
