The disruption to school caused by the Delta wave was difficult for students, parents and teachers but we need to also address the long term challenges facing education.

Earlier this year I met with local teachers and parents and heard about growing teacher shortages, affected by the lack of career paths and rewards for experience, increasing casualization of the workforce, lack of student counselling support and greater administration demands.

While the day of action caused more disruption, I stood in solidarity with teachers across NSW for their day of action to draw attention to the looming crisis in schools. In Parliament, I supported calls for proper recognition, training, support and compensation > HERE.
