The Premier has announced a 30 year Bays Precinct redevelopment program, including Blackwattle Bay and the Fish Market in my electorate. There’s been 10 years of master plan development so far!

The announcement commits to providing a vital foreshore walkway around the entire precinct however it is unclear whether other Bays Precinct Taskforce recommendations, which have community support, will be adopted such as for boating, tourism and a working harbour. There will be an international summit and the government will consider unsolicited proposals. The project must be driven by public benefit not private profit, and the community must be involved.  The site does not need ad-hoc development plans and I have supported community calls for a long term master plan to determine future use.
