The government is proposing yet another vision for the future of the Bays Precinct, now called Bays West.

The proposal is for a mixed residential and employment zone with adaptive reuse of the White Bay power station. The plan retains port and working harbour facilities including the Cruise Terminal and Glebe Island industrial, plus the already announced new Metro station. It includes either reinstatement of the old Glebe Island swing bridge or construction of a new higher bridge for active transport links with Pyrmont.
