Bays West Strategy

Bays West Strategy

The government is proposing yet another vision for the future of the Bays Precinct, now called Bays West.

The proposal is for a mixed residential and employment zone with adaptive reuse of the White Bay power station. The plan retains port and working harbour facilities including the Cruise Terminal and Glebe Island industrial, plus the already announced new Metro station. It includes either reinstatement of the old Glebe Island swing bridge or construction of a new higher bridge for active transport links with Pyrmont.

I welcome the focus on active transport across to Pyrmont, for which the community has strongly advocated. My most recent questions about access across the heritage bridge: > HERE.

You can comment on the latest plan until 29 April: > HERE.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
