Blackwattle Plans Still Wrong

Blackwattle Plans Still Wrong

The Infrastructure NSW revised plans for Blackwattle Bay continue to represent a poor outcome for this iconic harbour foreshore site.

While there have been some improvements since initial plans went on exhibition, the foreshore remains too narrow, the harbourside park will receive too little sunlight for the grass to grow in winter, neighbours’ homes will be overshadowed, and future residents will experience air and noise pollution from the Western Distributor. The commercial-residential mix is wrong and affordable housing targets too low.

Blackwattle Bay should be planned to produce a world-class precinct, not short-term profit. The City of Sydney has done extensive detailed design work to create an attractive place to live in, work in and visit and my submission on revised plans called on the minister to reject the proposal and direct Infrastructure NSW to work with the City of Sydney on a better design. Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
