Bowling Club Ceases Trading

Bowling Club Ceases Trading

23 June 2015

According to media reports, the commercial operators of the Paddington Bowling Club has ceased trading and gone into receivership, appointing an Administrator. This follows longstanding complaints about the Crown Land lease and proposed development, along with licensed club and liquor licence breaches. The minister has withdrawn consent for a proposed childcare centre development on adjacent land.

The minister’s response to my most recent question says that the commercial operator is not bound by the bowling club lease; however he says the report of the independent review will be made public

Locals including the Friends of Quarry Street Goodwin Village residents and former club members have been reporting breaches, registering complaints and asking questions about the arrangements for a number of years, and I commend their efforts to get investigation and enforcement.
