Bridge to Nowhere

Bridge to Nowhere

Wednesday 23 September 2015

The Auditor General has vindicated community outrage about the government’s handling of the “Tibby” Cotter Bridge project and its $38 million cost in a scathing report. The report shows $13 million extra costs were the result of unnecessary fast-tracking. There was no competitive costing, weak justification for the project, no proper business case or gateway review and cost blowouts were not justified. The review was done on my request following serious community concern that ‘the bridge to nowhere’ is an expensive and unnecessary white elephant, with serious parkland impacts, is disconnected from cycle routes and duplicates the approved light rail bridge. My media release is HERE and you can read the Auditor-Generals full report HERE.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
