The new Baird Government’s first and pre-election budget is being called the ‘infrastructure budget’ owing to big ticket infrastructure projects like the north and south west rail links and studies for a new Northern Beaches motorway tunnel. The big welcome surprise in the inner city is new funding for relocation of the Ultimo Public School and new classrooms at Bourke Street Public School. As expected, there is funding for works associated with Darling Harbour, the Overseas Passenger Terminal and Barangaroo.

I’m concerned that there was little to show on environmental protection and addressing climate change. While extra funds were allocated for social housing maintenance, there is nothing in this budget that will impact on the serious lack of cost housing or housing affordability. Details HERE
