Protecting biodiversity is fundamental to our future. I supported Balmain MP Jamie Parker’s motion in Parliament about the critical need to protect koala habitat so they don’t become extinct, including the Great Koala National Park proposed by biodiversity experts and environment groups. Of the nearly three billion animals that perished in the last bushfire season, at least 5,000 were koalas and their future is in peril.
