On behalf of the Sydney electorate, I wish to thank Carrie Deane for her leadership, commitment and service to vulnerable people in our community for the past fourteen years, most recently as Canice's Kitchen Community Manager. Under Carrie's leadership Canice's Kitchen has gone from strength to strength. Once a humble soup kitchen, today Canice's Kitchen is a thriving community hub that offers visitors a place of safety and connection in an environment where everyone is welcome. People can enjoy a meal and get help for legal concerns, employment, health and counselling. Many constituents have told me Canice's Kitchen is like home to them and I regularly refer people to the service. Carrie's leadership has been critical during a time when the cost of living has soared and the number of people with complex health and welfare needs has increased. The Canice's Kitchen response to the Covid-19 pandemic was swift and the service adapted to maintain support for vulnerable people. As Member for Sydney, I have valued Carrie's insight, ethic and dedication. I commend her four years as Community Manager for Canice's Kitchen and her work creating a safe, inclusive community.
