Casino Bill Set To Be Rushed Through Tomorrow

Casino Bill Set To Be Rushed Through Tomorrow

(12 November 2013)

The NSW Government has confirmed it will rush legislation through the NSW Legislative Assembly tomorrow to grant a casino licence to James Packer’s Crown Casino:

Mr Greenwich said:

"Why does the  Government need to rush a bill that doesn't come into effect until 2019?"

"This is not urgent legislation and the government should allow time for community consultation, input from crime experts, welfare organisations and the local community"

Mr Greenwich said the legislation has made it clear the Packer Casino will not be an exclusively high roller venue:

"Twenty five dollar roulette tables do not attract high rolling “whales” and the multi-player gaming terminals allowed are essentially dressed up poker machines."

"With no tender process, changes to the unsolicited proposals process and lack of consultation, it appears the only safe bet associated with the casino  was the one James Packer took to get this fast tracked  licence."

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
