Central Barangaroo
I’ve asked the new Minister for Planning and Public Spaces to join me and local residents for a walk around Central Barangaroo. While the previous planning minister stated that the proposal to expand commercial and residential development at Central Barangaroo was unacceptable overdevelopment, the proposal – Modification 9 – remains pending. ‘Modification 9’ would bring towers adjacent to the harbour, shrink the proposed public park, block heritage site lines from Observatory Hill and Millers Point, reduce the views of the sky from the observatory and block site lines from across the harbour. Central Barangaroo was never meant to be a commercial and residential precinct; early strategic planning identified it as a cultural and civic hub, and this remains the best outcome for the site.
It is important that the minister hears from those who know the area intimately to understand what is at risk and I hope he will accept the offer >HERE
