Circular Economy
In response to my questions in Parliament, the Minister for the Environment says the NSW government is working with the Commonwealth on a national Circular Economy and Recycling Plan. The government has done little to reduce waste and increase recycling in response to China’s decision to stop taking our waste and recycling: HERE.
The Environment Protection Authority has a discussion paper on reducing waste or ‘circular economy’. We will only reduce waste if there are laws to make producers responsible for the life cycle of their products so that they use less packaging, and more recycled and recyclable materials, and build products to last. The paper covers these principles however it is not clear how the government will achieve goals. You can comment to 25 November: HERE.
