Container deposits add around 10 cents to drink prices which get refunded when the container is returned for recycling. They boost recycling rates and cut litter, but governments continue to stall a national scheme. In Parliament I asked the environment minister for a State scheme and he said this is “one of the options” the government is “seriously considering”.
