Container Refunds

Container Refunds

The government is proposing to include wine, spirit, juice and cordial bottles in the container deposit Return and Earn scheme and you can give feedback on the idea > https://yoursay.epa.nsw.gov.au/driving-nsws-circular-economy.

I still hear complaints about the need for more Return and Earn outlets in the inner city and have submitted follow up questions to the minister > https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/la/papers/pages/qanda-tracking-details.aspx?pk=93930.  My 2020 questions raised the same concerns > https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/la/papers/pages/qanda-tracking-details.aspx?pk=54519.

I was disappointed to learn that REDCycle can no longer collect soft plastics for recycling. In question time, the Minister for Environment and Heritage said that the Environment Protection Authority will look at the problem but there is no commitment to restore services. The problem must be used as a reminder that we cannot rely on recycling to resolve our massive waste problem – reducing and reusing must happen first.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
