Direct access between Pyrmont/Ultimo

Direct access between Pyrmont/Ultimo

18 June 2015

Direct access between Pyrmont/Ultimo and the city was replaced in 2004 with a Western Distributor traffic lane for the Cross City Tunnel. Pedestrians now must take a lift or stairs down, walk south, east and north through Darling Harbour and then a lift back up. The journey is slow and lifts are often out of order and feel unsafe at night. After years of representations bouncing between ministers, the new transport minister met with me and residents where we argued that extending a planned direct Darling Harbour walkway will encourage Pyrmont and Ultimo residents to walk, taking pressure off already full buses and providing health benefits. The minister committed to taking the proposal to his department and Infrastructure NSW.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
