I congratulate Dying with Dignity NSW for its amazing grassroots campaign to pass voluntary assisted dying laws in this state. The organisation has been bringing dying people and their families together to tell their stories and call for new compassionate end-of-life options since 1983. Members' determination to prevent others suffering the way they or their loved ones have, often sharing deeply personal and traumatic experiences was inspiring. It is not possible to list all the brave and caring members but I especially want to acknowledge Shayne Higson and Penny Hackett for their passion and dedication.
