EOFY Charity Donations

EOFY Charity Donations

This has been a tough year for so many across NSW. A number of organisations that support our most vulnerable have also been doing it tough, with government and corporate support spread very thin.

Given the current economic crisis, I understand that many people are not in a financial position to make donations at this time, but if you are looking to make a tax deductible end of financial year donation, I know your funds will be put to good use supporting those in need.

I have put together a list of some charities and organisations that support the Sydney electorate and our communities, and which are running end of financial year fundraising appeals. These local organisations support some of the most vulnerable in our community and need donations to meet the increased demands on their services due to COVID-19:

Lou’s Place
Based in Potts Point, Lou’s Place is a community-based refuge for women in crisis, feeling isolated or needing support, many of whom are experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, poor mental health or addiction. Donate HERE

Inner City Legal Centre
Based in Kings Cross, the ICLC provides free legal services through advice, representation, education and advocacy, and specialises in LGBTIQA+ issues, including providing the only pro-bono legal service for LGBTIQA+ victims of domestic violence. Donate HERE.

WEAVE
Based in Woolloomooloo, WEAVE provides wrap-around support to vulnerable children, young people and families experiencing complex social issues with a focus on local Indigenous needs. Donate HERE.

Aboriginal Legal Service
The Aboriginal Legal Service provides justice and advocacy to improve the lives of Indigenous people. Donate HERE

Redfern Legal Centre
The Redfern Legal Centre provides free legal advice and support for people facing eviction and homelessness, international students stuck in Sydney, migrant workers who have lost their jobs, and women trapped in financially abusive relationships. Donate HERE

Wayside Chapel
Based in Kings Cross, the Wayside Chapel provides essentials and assistance to people who are struggling with homelessness and people in need who are isolated in their homes. Donate HERE.

Equality Australia
This peak advocacy organisation defends the rights of the LGBTIQA+ communities at a State and Federal level, providing policy advice to elected officials and campaigning for equality. They are running a matching donation campaign in June. Donate HERE.

The Gender Centre
The Gender Centre provides support, accommodation, and education services to the Trans and gender diverse communities, as well as their partners, families and friends. Donate HERE.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
