I’m proud to be a founding member of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Animals group and will work with supportive MPs to get reforms to prevent cruelty and improve animal welfare.
Former Bligh/Sydney MP Clover Moore worked to ban cruel puppy farms and it is great to see Emma Hurst MLC continuing this campaign with a successful Legislative Council motion. You can sign the online petition: HERE.
Following my letter to the Lord Mayor calling on the City of Sydney to ban the sale of products with fur on council owned property, three councils have now imposed bans. In addition to the City, Canterbury Bankstown Council and Inner West Council passed similar policies.
In Parliament I asked further questions about the greyhound racing industry which continues to get concessions despite ongoing reports of cruelty and inadequate oversight. My questions about deaths and injuries: HERE.
