I’ve asked the Premier to revitalise TAFE and vocational education and training in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and significant economic restructuring: HERE.
TAFE provides important training for more than 70 per cent of Australia’s technical workforce. Research by the Australia Institute’s Centre for Future Work identified that TAFE provides an economic benefit of $92.5 billion annually and has called for a rebuild of vocational education and training for new skills, jobs and opportunities, particularly for young people, women, and regional communities who have been hardest hit by the crisis.
I supported this call through questions in Parliament: HERE. After meeting with TAFE teachers, I also asked the minister to complete the agreed Enterprise Bargaining Agreement to provide security and stability for TAFE teachers.
