We must act on what is a global refugee humanitarian crisis. I was heartened that my motion in support of refugees and asylum seekers in Parliament last week received unanimous support from all sides. Half the Syrian population of 23 million has been displaced, more than 240,000 people have been killed, 11,000 killed in prison and there are 150,000 political prisoners. There are 7.6 million internally displaced people and four million refugees, with 650,000 people trapped in conflict zones. My speech is HERE.
