Many people were shocked by the resignation of Gladys Berejiklian last week.
She was a strong and determined leader for NSW, and has helped us get through arguably the state’s most challenging time in decades. Given the ongoing ICAC investigation, she did the right thing by resigning.
I will endeavour to meet with the new Premier as soon as possible to discuss priorities for the Sydney electorate and wider NSW community, including supporting workers and businesses throughout the ongoing pandemic, protections against discrimination for LGBTQIA+ communities, action on climate change, and the urgent need for more social and affordable housing. I welcome his support for a conscience vote on my Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill which I hope to introduce next week when Parliament resumes.
