Harbourside Still Too Far
Lack of custodianship of our waterfront is permitting the rapid privatisation of Darling Harbour. Bulky towers are replacing low rise buildings across the foreshore with wind, shade and view impacts and a shrinking public domain while the wall of high rise is cutting water and city connections with Pyrmont. In 2017 I opposed the proposal for a tower on the Harbourside block and I have again asked the government to reject the latest revisions to the proposal, which only make small reductions in tower and podium heights and position but fail to address the fundamental concern over the erosion of the public waterfront.
