High-rise high school version 2.0 planned for central Parramatta

Two years ago, parents were up in arms at plans for the first high-rise public school, to be built in inner-city Ultimo. Fierce resistance by the Ultimo P&C saw the plan dumped...

...Sydney independent MP Alex Greenwich lobbied hard for the new primary school in Ultimo, and a new inner-city high school, the site for which is yet to be announced.

Greenwich says that despite the backlash against the Ultimo primary high-rise, parents consulting with the Education Department are "comfortable" with a city high school high-rise.

He said older students can walk further to go to a park. "A lot of parents in the inner city are already sending kids to private schools that are high rise and would prefer to send them to a public school," he said.
