Earlier in June, my Independent colleague Greg Piper MP successfully moved a motion calling for immediate steps to improve housing affordability including greater investment in social housing.

Meanwhile the government has released plans for the massive Waterloo social housing redevelopment. While the proposal is better than the previous Land and Housing Corporation plan and benefits from the City of Sydney design, it will still have nearly two thirds private development. This is inner city government-owned land close to mass transport and should have much more low cost housing.
