Housing Support

Housing Support

(Update, Monday 23 September 2019)

In Parliament, I again called on the government to invest in supported accommodation for people with serious and persistent mental illness, substance use, or trauma. There are increasing reports that people in crisis, many of whom have been living on the streets for years, are being housed inappropriately without any support to manage their new living arrangement and get on their feet in a new community. The evidence shows that Housing First models – a home with support – are the most successful way to help long term homeless people with most complex needs and most significant challenges maintain their homes and be good neighbours. My speech: HERE

I’ve also submitted questions about support to address hoarding and squalor, persistent serious mental illness, modifications for disability and ageing, and to match new tenants with existing tenant profiles to reduce conflict and disputes. You can view my questions at HERE

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
