Many injured workers have been left worse off as a result of overhauls to the workers compensation scheme.

While the government introduced new changes to address concerns raised in an independent review, the changes did not go far enough to protect workers and I worked with the government and opposition to successfully improve the bill. My amendments introduce new transparency for procurement processes, and ensure workers and employers are represented on the iCare board.

I also supported opposition amendments to remove a clause that would have left all the laws governing lump sum payments for workers returning to work in the regulations. The government will instead do more work and return to parliament with detailed laws.
