On behalf of the Sydney electorate, I wish to note and thank Jess Scully for her work as City of Sydney councillor from September 2016 to this year. Jess built on her experience working with VIVID to bring a focus on culture, arts and creative events and experience to the city. She worked on a wide range of projects and plans for council to revitalise inner city high streets, support laneway gardens, make sure there are spaces for kids play and child care access for asylum seekers. She achieved local preference procurement and support for community and wealth building organisations. Jess gave priority to better housing options for vulnerable people and support of the Housing for the Aged Action Group, recognising a home is vital to a city for everyone. I worked with Jess on some projects including strengthening the night-time economy and getting COVID support grants for micro-businesses. She is a 'yes' person who is always looking for ways to make things happen. We need councillors like Jess who show up and take action, and I thank her for this significant contribution to the City of Sydney and the inner city.
