Koala Respite
The appalling bill that will facilitate the clearing of koala habitat for development, agriculture, mining and forestry that I opposed in the Legislative Assembly did not pass the Legislative Council. Government MLC Catherine Cusack crossed the floor to refer the legislation to a Parliamentary inquiry. I congratulate her for working to protect the koala, which is predicted to be extinct by 2050 under a business-as-usual scenario, let alone an erosion of existing laws.
