In Parliament, I put on record some small but important steps towards inclusion and equal treatment for the LGBTIQ+ community.

I commended Trans Pride Australia for being awarded this year’s Mental Health Matters Rainbow Inclusion Award, recognising their vital work > HERE.

I noted the change in award categories at the ARIAS, which will give a Best Artist award instead of best male or female artist, so artists who are non-binary will be considered along with those who identify as male or female > HERE.

The City of Sydney is now using the Progress Pride flag, which adds to the Rainbow Flag symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities, with a chevron with black and brown for Indigenous people and people of colour, and the white, pink and blue coloured stripes of the Trans Pride Flag. I commended this public step to demonstrate inclusion and acceptance for LGBTIQ+ communities > HERE.
