Liquor Act Changes

Liquor Act Changes

Most changes to the Liquor Act following statutory review improve responsible service of alcohol and I welcomed more flexibility to exempt Kings Cross venues from ID scanning where the risks are low and to help community organisations sell liquor at fundraisers. However one change will force small bars and restaurants to keep kitchens open until closing time, making them unviable. Chefs normally pack up the kitchen while patrons continue to drink and the review report recommended a grace period such as one or two hours before closing. I encourage you to lobby the government ([email protected]) and opposition ([email protected]) before the bill comes to the upper House.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
