Logging Moratorium

Logging Moratorium

I am concerned logging is continuing in state forests that provide vital habitat to species impacted by the fires based on pre-fire risk assessments, such as in the Nambucca State Forest where operations have ramped up in response to a court challenge. Over a billion animals and hundreds of billions of insects died this bushfire season and more are at risk from their now reduced, fragmented and isolated habitat rendering all pre-fire assessments irrelevant.

With my independent colleague Greg Piper, the Member for Lake Macquarie, I called for a moratorium on native state forest logging and an urgent independent comprehensive scientific assessment across the entire landscape including threatened species and ecological communities: HERE

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
