Thanks to everyone who marched with Lord Mayor Clover Moore and I in Saturday night’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade. We had a great night with thousands of others celebrating progress towards equality and remembering more work is need to stop homophobic violence, abuse and discrimination. One member of our marching group brought this home very directly – Gerard is a refugee from Uganda where being homosexual can mean being executed.
