Marriage No Campaign Harm

Marriage No Campaign Harm

I’ve asked to meet with Bishop Michael Stead about a formal apology from the Anglican Church and Coalition for Marriage campaign for the harmful and distressing conduct during the marriage equality postal survey.

The Senate Inquiry confirms there was a deliberate campaign aimed at causing offence some of the most vulnerable people in the LGBTI community. Full page ads and television commercials did not focus on marriage but instead attacked families with same-sex parents and trans and gender diverse young people. Those same campaigners now seek to further exclude, undermine and discriminate against LGBTIQ students, families and teachers.

We all have a stake in an inclusive, fair and equal society and I hope that we can bridge these divisions through apology and healing together. My letter is HERE.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
