No Confidence Motion

No Confidence Motion

I did not support the no-confidence motion in the Premier moved by the opposition leader in Parliament last week. A no-confidence motion is a serious matter and if successful can start the process of dismissing a leader or dissolving a government.

Throughout my time in Parliament I have consistently used maladministration and corruption as the thresholds for supporting no-confidence motions. In terms of maladministration, it’s my view that the Premier continues to work hard to get us through the pandemic and in terms of corruption, there are no charges or investigations against the Premier. The ICAC inquiry is into Daryl Maguire whose resignation I called for in 2018. I will continue to monitor the ICAC proceedings.

I was disappointed that the government gagged the debate before I was able to speak to the motion.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
