Nobbling Advocacy

The federal government will lower the threshold for charities, advocacy and community groups to disclose political spending, forcing them to retrospectively reveal donors’ details.

The new law won’t expose federal political party donations like the billions donated from fossil fuel industries which get billions in taxpayer subsidies > HERE, nor the anonymous donors who funded the former Attorney General’s defamation court case. Instead the laws target non-party political organisations campaigning on community issues like climate change and political integrity, including the Australia Institute and Climate 200 > HERE.

Join the campaign to repeal the Electoral Legislation Amendment (Political Campaigners) Act through the Australia Institute online petition > HERE.

See the analysis in The Guardian > HERE and Crikey > HERE.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
