The large number of infrastructure and utility projects in the inner city to upgrade facilities and services has impacted on many residents’ ability to sleep. Roads and footpaths have been excavated and resurfaced at night to protect traffic flows in the day. While some works will be difficult in the day, sleep deprivation is a serious health concern and I’ve again asked the RMS to change rules so that residential amenity is also a priority: HERE
At briefings on major projects, I work with agencies on better safeguards for residential amenity like limiting louder works to earlier in the evening, acoustic measures, respite and compliance oversight. I continue to push for a single public online platform where residents can find out who is working in your area and who to contact for problems.
