Despite indications that there would be a leap in COVID cases with the more-transmissible Omicron variant, the government proceeded with plans to remove most movement and gathering restrictions last week.

We’ve now seen a dramatic increase in positive cases that could risk re-opening and holiday celebrations.

I’ve asked the health minister to review mask and other restrictions, expand testing and fast-track results so that people can better manage the situation. I urge you to carefully celebrate outside where possible and continue using QR check-ins and wear a face mask where you cannot distance. Book your vaccine booster shot when you are eligible.
