Plastic Action

Plastic Action

Tuesday 18 July 2017

Plastic is devastating the environment, polluting waterways and ending up inside the fish we eat. Plastic bags are a major culprit, breaking down in the waste stream into tiny plastic pieces. Australia consumed over a billion plastic bags in the last decade and it is time NSW caught up with the rest of the world and banned plastic bags. This week Harris Farm, Coles and Woolworths committed to banning plastic bags by next year.

Environment ministers will discuss plastic bags at the end of the month and I asked the NSW Minister for the Environment to introduce a ban to cover the state and support a national ban at the meeting. My letter is below.

Governments must act urgently to address this looming environmental and health disaster. You can join the campaign HERE and download and sign my petition HERE.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
