Pokie Papers

Pokie Papers

Last year the NSW Crime Commission exposed that billions in criminal funds are laundered on poker machines in pubs and clubs every year and recommended cashless gaming to track the money going in and out of machines. But I have information that the departmental regulator has additional data that shows the problem is even worse than was reported. My motion last week will require all documents held by the regulator on money laundering during the Crime Commission’s investigation period are delivered to Parliament for inspection by MPs. In response to my motion, the Crime Commission will look at whether there was any interference in getting this information.

The Parliament is working through the best way to address money laundering in electronic gaming machines and needs to know the full extent of the problem.
